The Dodgers had a tough but well-fought defeat this weekend against the Herd of Mountain Lakes with a score of 14-21.

The game began disheartening with the Dodgers down 21 points in the first half, with impressive passes to Nick Palazzi from the Herd.

MDO spoke with a few Mountain Lakes fans and their thoughts on the game at half-time and what we should expect for the second half of the game from the Herd. “It’s only the first half of the game, we brought the herd today,” said Liam Chavez of Mountain Lakes. “We’re definitely making the most of Madison’s mistakes. We’ve definitely got potential for the second half of the game.”

Madison’s feelings were somber as half-time arrived, but with a stunning 60-yard run by Matt Mulcahy for a touchdown, Madison’s spirits lifted with an uproar, the stands shaking jovially as fans chanted D-O-D-G-E-R-S. As the game went on, Dodgers stopped drive after drive of Herders in their tracks, preventing any points from getting through.

Although the extra point for Mulcahy’s run was a dud, the Dodgers made up for it with a follow-up touchdown at the 11 minute mark of the fourth quarter, executing a perfect two point conversion with a beautiful pass from Dodger quarterback Ryan Schmitz to receiver Brian Bradley.

Unfortunately, the comeback did not last for the Dodgers, with the clock putting up a harder fight in the end than the Herd did. MDO spoke with quarterback Ryan Schmitz after the game. “They were a tough team,” Schmitz said. “Our team didn’t do our jobs in the first half, we were a bit timid on the offensive. The second half was our real team.”

I think your article really embodied the feeling and tone of the game. Being apart of this game myself I can say that the locker room was silent at half time like you mentioned. Great job portraying the game in a real and informative way.
